We’re down to the semi-finals of the 2026 World Squash Junior Championships at the White Oaks Resort in Niagara-on-the Lake, Canada, as the last eight players remaining make one last push for the final.
Play begins at 17:00 (GMT-4) on the all-glass court, which hosts all four semi-finals today.
The first match pitches India’s Anahat Singh against Egypt’s Barb Sameh. Singh, 18, is playing in her fifth and final World Juniors and will be desperate to go one better than her semi-final exit last year. A win for Singh would make her the first Indian player to reach the final since Joshna Chinappa in 2005. Sameh, meanwhile, will be keen to ensure an all-Egyptian final and will draw confidence from her strong form in Canada this week, with the 18-year-old yet to drop a game.
At 17:00, the first of three all-Egyptian clashes takes place as Mohamad Zakaria plays Seif Refaay. Zakaria, World No.7 on the PSA Squash Tour, has reached the finals of the last three editions of World Juniors, winning the last two, and is hoping to become the first male player to win the title three times. Though he goes in as the underdog, do not count out Refaay, though. The 18-year-old is a silky operator on court and the reigning British Junior Open champion.
The second women’s semi-final sees the eternal Cairo-Alexandria rivalry continue as Alexandria’s Malika Elkaraksy plays Cairo’s Ruqayya Salem. Elkaraksy has been tipped for the top of the game, and is appearing at these championships at the age of just 15. Salem, 18, has enjoyed a strong start to her professional career, winning four PSA titles this season and will be eager to end her junior career on a high.
The last match of the day might be too close to call, pitching last year’s runner up Marwan Assal against this year’s No.2 seed Adam Hawal. Expect passion and flair aplenty from both men, with Assal cut from a similar cloth as his older brother – World No.1 Mostafa – and Hawal able to beat anyone on his day, most notably defeating former World No.1 at the Egyptian Open last year.
Away from the show court, placement matches are also taking place.
