The player seedings and draws have been announced ahead of this month’s World Squash Junior Championships as 185 of the world’s best squash talents aged under 19 prepare to head to Canada for a chance to earn the title of World Champion.
The individual championships are taking place from July 20-25 at the White Oaks Resort and Spa in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario, with the team event following at the same venue from July 26–31.
Headlining the draws in the men’s and women’s events are Egypt’s Mohamad Zakaria and India’s Anahat Singh.
Zakaria, who is also the current World No.7, is hoping to make history once again after he became the youngest-ever male World Squash Junior Champion in 2024. The 18-year-old Egyptian star will be aiming to write his name in the record books as he hopes to become the first male player to win three World Junior titles, after winning his second in Cairo last year.
Meanwhile, World No. 20 Singh will be aiming to redeem her semi-final exit in last year’s World Juniors to Egypt’s Nadien Elhammamy. India’s No.1 will be hoping to capitalise on her good form on the professional tour, which saw her claim multiple titles this season, as she aims to add another to her collection and lift her first World Junior title.
Joining Zakaria and Singh in the top seeded positions are Egypt’s Ruqayya Salem, who enjoyed a successful run on the professional tour, with an impressive debut at the British Open, going through the qualifying rounds to reach the second round.
While her compatriot Adam Hawal, who is also listed at the No.2 seed, caused one of the biggest upsets in squash history after beating then World No.3 Paul Coll in Round 2 of the CIB Egyptian Open, with 249 places separating the pair in the PSA World Rankings.
In the men’s event, compatriots Marwan Assal and Seifeldin Refaay have been named the 3/4 seeds, while in the women’s event, Egypt’s Malika Elkaraksy and Barb Sameh are listed as the 3/4 seeds.
