What are the World Squash Junior Championships?

The World Squash Junior Championships, often known as the ‘World Juniors’, is an annual international event that pits the world’s best squash players aged under 19 against each other for the title of world champion.

World Juniors includes individual events and team events. The team events feature three players (picked from squads of four players) from each nation battling it out, with the first team to win two matches being victorious.

When and where are the 2026 World Juniors taking place?

The 2026 World Squash Junior Championships are taking place at White Oaks Resort & Spa in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario, Canada.

The championships begin with the individual events (20–25 July) and conclude with the team events (26–31 July).

Who is competing in the 2026 World Juniors?

This year’s event will see a total of 185 players, aged 18 and under, compete in both the men’s and women’s draws—and will include the World No.7 Mohamad Zakaria, who has been named the top seed in the men’s individual event.

Should the No.1 seed defend his title, he will become the first-ever male squash player to win the championship three times, having already made history as the youngest men’s World Junior Champion in 2024.

India’s No.1 Anahat Singh will also be looking to claim her first World Junior Women’s Championship, with the World No.20 hoping to go one step further after being eliminated in the 2025 semi-finals.

Joining the two high-ranked stars will be France’s European U19 Champion Amir Khaled-Jousselin, Helen Tang, the Asian U19 Champion from Hong Kong, China, Pan Am Junior Champion Fiorella Gatti and Australia’s Oceania U19 Champion Sarbani Maitra.

The lineup of players will also see Egypt’s Adam Hawal and Ruqayya Salem, who have been named the No.2 seeds, contest the World Junior titles.

The duo, who will be hoping to upset the top seeds, recorded impressive performances on the professional tour this season, including at the British Open in June, and will be looking to maintain this momentum and challenge for the World Junior Championships.
