Following the return of Brazil’s boys’ and girls’ teams to the World Championships in Houston 2024 — after many years away from the competition — Brazil will be the back to represent their country in all events at the 2025 World Juniors in Egypt.

After surprising many with its performance last year in Houston, Brazil now looks to take another step forward at this year’s championship in Egypt.
The Brazilian Squash Federation has been investing in long-term development with its junior programs, aiming for consistent results in the future. Initiatives like the “Squash of Tomorrow” programme, led by Maurício Penteado, have boosted the sport in recent years, ensuring results in South American championships and laying the groundwork for future international competitions.
Coach Fábio Cechin is leading a young girls’ team, focused on gaining valuable experience at this high level. The standout player is Laura Silva, Brazil’s No.1 with a highest world ranking of No.96 in the PSA world rankings, and one of the top female players in South America.
On the boys’ side, Coach Renato Gallego is leading a renewal of the team, betting on the strength and talent of brothers Owen and Viggo Hendricks, aiming to deliver a strong performance.
Brazil last played in Egypt in 1996 during the Boys’ World Junior Championships and are looking forward to improving on their successes in Houston last year.

The 2025 World Juniors forms a crucial part of the development of the squash ecosystem in the South American country, where the team will look to challenge some of the top players and nations in all events.
